Miniature donkeys appeared in the USA as domestic animals in 1929. Robert Green was the first breeder to import 6 jennys and one stallion, and was the creator of the race. He once said that "Miniature donkeys possess the affectionate nature of a new found land, the resignation of a cow, the durability of a mule, the courage of a tiger, and the intellectual capability only slightly inferior to man's"
Because of their small size and their gentle temperament with children many families have fallen in love with these domesticated animals. |

At the adult age around 3 years, the donkeys will reach their maximum height. It is possible for these donkeys to grow higher than 91.44 cm or 36 inches but these donkeys are no longer considered miniature but small donkeys.
To measure the size you have to take the bones back of the donkey. For this we use a ruler with a level incorporate for a better precision.
You have to know that miniature donkeys around 80 cm are very rare in Europe and even more rare in France. |

 It is very hard to give a fixed price for a miniature donkey.
Their sex, good references, color and pedigree have to be taken in to consideration.
The price may be higher if the donkey is under 85 cm, but the price doesn't necessarily increase as the size of the donkey decreases.
Whats most important is their refinement, good references and their good character. These things give them the possibility to go into compétitions and shows.
Colours like black, spotted, red and pink (marron grey) are very sort after in the USA and are also harder to find in Europe. For the white ivory its nearly a MISSION IMPOSSIBLE. They are very rare.
